Not at all! My workshops are designed with beginners in mind, and I'll guide you through each step of the featured project or technique. You'll learn traditional metalsmithing techniques while creating your own jewelry in a relaxed, welcoming environment, so no previous experience is necessary.
Everything you'll need for the workshop is included, including the tools, materials, and a class handout. My goal is to provide everything you need so you can arrive, settle in, and enjoy the experience. If a particular workshop includes something unique - such as bringing your own embellishments or meaningful items - that will always be noted in the class description.
Wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting a little dusty. Jewelry making is a hands-on experience, and depending on the workshop, you may be working with metal dust, polishing compounds, or other materials. I recommend closed-toe shoes, avoiding loose sleeves, and pulling back long hair while you're working. If a particular class has any special clothing or safety recommendations, you'll find those in the class description.
Class size varies depending on the venue, the featured project, and the techniques being taught. Workshop sizes are planned so every participant has the opportunity to receive individual guidance, ask questions, and enjoy the experience.
Every workshop features a project or technique, so the jewelry you create will vary from class to class. Whether you're making earrings, a pendant, a ring, or another project, you'll leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry that you created yourself, and one you'll be excited to wear!
We'll work together to give you every opportunity to complete your project during class. Workshops are thoughtfully planned to allow plenty of time to learn new techniques while creating your piece. Because everyone learns at a different pace, some projects may require a few finishing touches after class. If that happens, I'll make sure you know exactly what remains and answer any questions so you can confidently complete your piece.
Most workshops are approximately two hours in length, although the exact time will be listed in the individual class description. I'll be there before class begins to welcome everyone, and I'm always happy to answer questions before and after the workshop. My goal is for you to enjoy not only the experience of learning to make jewelry, but also the opportunity to relax, connect, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the venue.
Most workshops are intended for participants ages 18 and older due to the tools and techniques used in class. If I offer a workshop designed for younger participants, the age requirements will be noted in the class description.
I understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel your registration, please let me know as soon as possible so I have the opportunity to offer your seat to someone on the waiting list.

When you contact me, please let me know which class or project you're interested in (for example, "Please add me to the Stacking Ring Workshop waitlist.") That will help me notify you as soon as a space becomes available or a new workshop is scheduled.
