A flash of blue beneath a tumble of autumn leaves.
 
This spectacular Labradorite shifts from deep, smoky blue to flashes of turquoise, green and gold as it catches the light. I built the sterling silver setting around the natural shape of the stone, then gathered layers of leaves along one end, as though they've just begun to tumble across it.
 
Small silver details are scattered among the leaves, while a deep patina brings out their texture and gives the entire piece the moody, timeworn character I wanted. The open setting allows the Labradorite - and all of that remarkable color - to remain the focus.
 
On the back, the botanical story continues with the delicate imprint of a skeleton leaf, pressed into the silver with my rolling mill.
 
Finished with an oxidized sterling silver chain.
